Project Goal

For this practicum project the goal was straightforward and simple. Provide educators with information that gives them the confidence and self-esteem to participate in Indigenous ceremonies and activities. Although the initial gather is the one at Blue Quills University and there are only about 40 people participating, it gives us a place to start.

The Knowledge Gathering weekend happens on May 26 & 27, 2023, so the there was limited time to get the information out to participants before the weekend happened.

Timeline

  • May 1-5 -> get the tentative agenda out to participants so they know what different ceremonies, tours and other activities will be happening over the two days.
  • May 15-19 -> release tip sheet to attendees with information that will increase confidence in their participation over the weekend
  • Prior to the weekend gathering Susan Garrow-Oliver distributed a survey to ask participants about their knowledge of BQU, their use of different Indigenous teachings, commitment to reconciliaction, etc. This survey closed before May 26, 2023.
  • After the weekend gathering, Tanya and Susan prepared a post-gathering survey to see what participants got out of the weekend of Knowledge Gathering, what they expected vs. what they experienced, etc. This survey will be open for an unknown period of time for now.
